I met a guy online and it was going great until my mom invited him over for the holidays and now I am wondering how to go about this particular situation. We had a talk that almost felt like a break up even though we weren’t in that stage quite yet. I did spazz and send a message that I definitely wish I could take back but have since analyzed the situation and want to offer an apology for my coming out of character and let him know that I didn’t have those expectations of him. I still want to give him this space but is it okay to apologize for the way I or my mom may have made him feel?

We were going good for about 8 months and he expressed to me that he wanted to move slow due to past trauma with women but that he was not against being in a committed relationship. However we were constantly making forward progress.
